It is a pleasure to welcome all the South East Asia nations to the ASEAN Deaf Sports Federation (ADSF).
It is an honor to be elected as the President of ADSF for the next four years. I hope to do at my utmost best to serve ADSF and I am confident that my team work together to achieve the goal – seeing the developing countries to form a new National Deaf Sports Association and ensure that they have the access to be able to participate in ADSF events in future.
ADSF is committed to provide opportunities to the Deaf communities in the South East Asia region, to develop their potential through proper preparation, training and competition. Not only that the athletes will also have the opportunity to promote better mutual understanding and friendship in terms of culture and sign language.
We would like to highlight that the first ASEAN Deaf Games would be targeted to inaugurate in 2020 with a host country to be named in due course. The Games is highly regarded and held with much prestige as the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games. I anticipate that the Games will be the biennal multi-sports event, with countless moments of pride and emotion for the Deaf community in the South East Asia region. In future, we hope to see the increase in the number of athletes and sports to grow.
Beyond the Games, ADSF also promote Championships, Youth Sports Camp and Seminars for all the ASEAN countries. We would strive hard to create more awareness on the South East Asian athletes involved in the international events.
Lastly, I thank my team for the efforts they put for the betterment of ASEAN Deaf communities.
